Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) invites application for the position Project Technician cum Data Entry Operator

Project (ICMR funded): Setting up of Registry & Targeted Exome Sequencing in Children with Renal Tubular Disorders 

Number of Post: 01

Essential Qualification: 12th standard pass in science subjects or equivalent from recognized Board/Institution and 2 years diploma of Medical Laboratory Technician / BSc (MLT) / BSc(Biotechnology) or equivalent.

Excellent knowledge of MS Office (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with knowledge of performing basic statistical analysis

Desirable Qualification: One year experience in molecular/genetic laboratory (sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction etc) Candidates with hands on experience in Molecular Biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction/amplification and experience in maintaining bio-repositories shall be preferred One year previous experience in research related to medical sciences in reputed Institute as DEO Effective listening skills, and excellent verbal and written communications skills in English/Tamil.

Emoluments: Rs 18,000/- per month (consolidated) with 10% increment in 2 nd and 3rd year Rs 800

Duration: Three Years The appointment will be on temporary basis for a period of one year Based on the performance in first year, the appointment could be extended till the end of the project or duration of the Project whichever is earlier

Job Description: The position is purely temporary and renewable depending on the funding for the project The job requires sample collection, DNA extraction, coding, sample transfer and managing bio- repository.

Assisting in research activities relating to the project including data entry Any other duty assigned by the PI from time to time Co-ordinate with technician cum data entry operator of other centers for packaging and transfer of samples The job requires data entry from the co-ordinating center, regular correspondence with other centers regarding implementation, appropriateness of data entry and mid–term analysis Executing finance and administrative related tasks of project.
