1 Minimum Educational and Scouting/Guiding Qualification: For Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) : 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate 50% marks is not to be insisted upon in case of SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen & for the candidate of any category possessing higher Qualification.

Scouting/Guiding Qualification as in Para 40

2 Scale: Rs 5200-20200/- with GP Rs.

1900/- [Corresponding to Level-2 of Pay Matrix (7th CPC)]

Age: 18 to 30 yrs

Application Fee: Rs 500/-(Rupees five Hundred) only This Examination Fee is not refundable/transferable/ adjustable under any circumstances.

(ii) For candidates belonging to SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, PWD, Women, Minorities and Economically Backward Classes Rs 250/- (Rupees two hundred Fifty) only with a provision for refunding the same to those who actually appear in the written examination

General Conditions
1 Candidates will have to undergo prescribed training course as applicable for the post as per existing instructions

3 All the photocopies of Certificates in regards to proof of age, educational qualifications, scouting qualifications, other qualifications, caste certificate and other certificates duly attested by a Gazetted Officer are to be enclosed along with the application form

Two self-addressed envelopes (size 23 cm x 10 cm) to be sent along with the application.


5 Two recent passport size photographs (without cap & coloured glass) with their names written at the backside should be clipped along with the application form Another passport size photograph (without cap & coloured glass) duly signed by the candidate with date to be pasted on the application form at the space provided
6 Application not properly filled in, incomplete or with overwriting, erasing or not supported by the attested copies of relevant certificates will be liable to be rejected.


7 Application received by post beyond the last date will not be entertained Railway Administration, Eastern Railway will not be responsible for any postal delay/wrong delivery whatever at any stage of the selection process
8 Category and Place of posting will be decided by the Appropriate Railway Authority.


9 Candidates entitlement at all stages of the recruitment will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions
10 A written declaration should be furnished by the candidate, who would be finally qualified for appointment, as per Annexure-IV If the candidate violates any of the said declarations furnished by him/her, he/she should be taken up under D&A Rule by the Competent Authority

The application is liable to be rejected if any of the compulsory enclosure is not attached as indicated in the proforma of the application or the application is found defective in any respect Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature

3 No column should be left blank, which also may be the cause of rejection of the application Verification of all testimonials and certificates will also be mandatory condition for appointment.

5 Recent Passport size photographs (Taken within one month) should not be accompanied with colored glass and cap on the head and it may be the cause of rejection of the application Photographs pasted on the Application Form, not signed and without date by the candidate may be the cause of rejection of the application Application without date & thumb impression, unsigned and signed in Block or Capital letters may be the cause of rejection of the application.



Selection Procedure
1 Written Test - 60 Marks
2 Marks on certificates - 40 Marks
3 Selection of Candidates will be subject to Medical Examination in the prescribed medical standard by Railway Medical Authority prior to their appointment after due selection.

Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim,
Jammu & Kashmir, Lahul & Spiti Districts and Pangi sub-division of
Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman , Nicobar and Lakshadweep
Island is : 11/12/2018 up to 17:00 hrs. Application received by
ordinary post or directly beyond the last date will not be entertained.

2. Applications, on plain paper (A4 size) in the given format
(Annexure – I) should be neatly typed or hand written either in
English or Hindi duly filled (in own handwriting) are invited from the
eligible Scouts & Guides candidates for filling up the vacancies
against Scouts & Guides Quota of Eastern Railway and Chittaranjan
Locomotive Works (CLW) for the year 2018-19. The candidates having no
Scouts & Guides qualifications as required need not apply.

Events, Jamborees, Jamborettee, N.I. Camps, Samagams, Utsav, Mela or
Rallies, Camporees, Competitions, Specialised Course, Camps, Service
Projects, National, All Indian Railways and State Events and also
District Rally etc.).
7. Attested copies of certificates of other qualification/curriculum
activities, if any.
8. Two Passport size Photographs without cap & coloured glass should
be clipped with the application and name written behind.
9. Two self-addressed envelope of size 23 c.m.×10 c.m. with name in
full and complete postal address with PIN Code for communication
should be written clearly thereon.
10. Postal Order to be drawn in favour of as per the Para 6.0.
11. Attested Copy of Cast Certificate, if applicable.
12. Candidates belonging to Economically Backward Classes, claiming
for refund of Examination Fee, should submit declaration/income
certificate as per enclosed format. (Annexure ‘A’).
13. Attested copies of other relevant certificates, as applicable.

On 15th August 1854, East Indian Railway (EIR)’s first train ran from Howrah to Hooghly, a distance of 24 miles. Regular services were introduced from that day, with stops at Bally, Serampore and Chandannagore.

In 1862, EIR extended upto the west bank of Yamuna on its way to Delhi. In 1864, in a bid to connect Calcutta and Delhi, trains started running between the two cities without any bridge on Yamuna by ferrying the coaches on boats across the river at Allahabad. In 1865 the Yamuna Bridge at Allahabad opened. In 1867 EIR branch line extended from Allahabad to Jubbalpore.

After the Government of India took over the management of EIR in 1925, it was splitted into six divisions — Howrah, Asansol and Dinapore known as the lower divisions and Allahabad, Lucknow and Moradabad known as the upper divisions.

Eastern Railway (ER) was formed on 14th April, 1952 by integration of the East Indian Railway (EIR) consisting of Sealdah, Howrah, Asansol and Danapur Divisions and the entire Bengal – Nagpur Railway (BNR). The jurisdiction of ER extended from Howrah to Mughalsarai in the North, upto Visakhapatnam in the South and upto Nagpur in the Central area. The three Upper divisions of E.I.R. were added to Northern Railway.
