Essential Qualification : Graduate in Medical Laboratory (BSc); with minimum 1 year
experience after graduation Or       
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT); with minimum 2 years experience
after diploma Knowledge of computer.

    
     
Desirable Qualification : Training in Biostatistics and Biosafety procedures and

Laboratory Quality Management System    
    
Consolidated Salary : Rs 13,000/-     
     
Age Limit : 40 years        
        
Job Requirements :        
        
Undertake STI/ RTI testing according to standard laboratory procedure Draw blood
for syphilis and HIV testing.

       
Assist doctor in collection of vaginal, cervical, urethral, oral or rectal samples
Maintain patient records and laboratory registers  
  
Procure and maintain laboratory supplies   
   
Follow infection control procedures     
To work in close coordination with the Microbiologist and Technical Officer.

To carry out the work related to EQAS for STIs/RTIs tests 
 
Diagnostic tests, including preparation of panels, sending of panels to the RCSs and

SRCs        
        
Submission of report in CMIS       
       
Training and maintaining quality of lab work   
   
Help to prepare SOPs and documents for accreditation.

 
 
Any other work assigned by supervisory officers  
  
Experience :        
        
1 year experience in a molecular diagnostic laboratory for Graduate in Science

2 years experience in molecular diagnostic laboratory for those with diploma in MLT

The Administrative control of this Institute rests with the Director General of Health Services, New Delhi, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. This Institute has been recognized by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi as one of the Scientific Research Institute. Since its inception, this Institute has been mainly engaged in the field of Forensic Serology with diversification in other fields later.

The Institute of Serology, Kolkata under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, was established in the year 1912 and was known as "Imperial Serologists Department" in the year 1916.At that time activities of the Department was mainly on forensic serology of undivided India. Later on the Department diversified its activities in other fields and was renamed as “Department of Serologist & Chemical Examiner to the Government of India.” At present the Institute was named as “Institute of Serology” Kolkata by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare New Delhi in the year 1996.
