Note : (*) -  The initial period of deputation will be one year or till the regular incumbent in the feeder cadre becomes eligible for the post whichever is earlier

The eligibility criteria for appointment to the above posts are as under:

I Private Secretary: Officers under Central Government :

a) Holding analogous posts or

b) Stenographers Grade - I /II in the Pay Band - 2 Rs.

9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs 4200 with 5 years regular service in the Grade

II Enquiry Officer : a) Inspector of Income Tax or

b) Assistants of the CSS with experience of work relating to Direct Tax Laws

c) Tax Assistants in the Income Tax Department who are graduates with three years regular service in the grade and having at least two years service as Upper Division Clerk, with experience of Income Tax assessment work

III.

Technical Assistant  : a)
Sr Tax Assistants of Income Tax Department who are graduates with 3 years of regular service in the grade and having at least 2 years experience of Income Tax assessment work

IV Stenographer Gr-II :   a) holding analogous post on regular basis.

b) Stenographer Grade-Ill with 8 years of regular service in the grade in the Grade Pay of Rs2400 (Level-4 of 7th CPC)

V Upper Division Clerk : a) holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or dept.

(or) b) Lower Division Clerks with 8 years regular service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on regular basis in Grade Pay 1900 in the parent dept

About Income Tax Settlement Commission
The Department of Revenue functions under the overall direction and control of the Secretary (Revenue). It exercises control in respect of matters relating to all the Direct and Indirect Union Taxes through two statutory Boards namely, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC). Each Board is headed by a Chairman who is also ex-officio Special Secretary to the Government of India. Matters relating to the levy and collection of all Direct taxes are looked after by the CBDT whereas those relating to levy and collection of Customs and Central Excise duties and other Indirect taxes fall within the purview of the CBEC. The two Boards were constituted under the Central Board of Revenue Act, 1963. At present, the CBDT has six Members and the CBEC has five Members. The Members are also ex-officio Additional Secretaries to the Government of India.
