Role Summary/Purpose:VP-Data Science role is a part of India Analytics Hub (IAH) Our Analytics team comprises of data analysts and data scientists who focus on improving customer/product/digital/journey experience etc and growth by providing full stack descriptive to prescriptive analytics via cutting edge technologies to support business objectives The candidate will lead a 14+ member team, delivering data science initiatives and analytical solutions including model development and model risk, supporting product expansion strategies, advanced analytics projects, commercialization and consulting across clients and domains such as Marketing, Fraud, Credit, Collections and Customer Experience The chosen candidate will act as the primary owner & brand ambassador for Data Science-India team on project delivery, quality, business impact as well as team & stakeholder management.

He/she will be responsible for building & executing the vision for the India Data Science team(s) & will play a critical role in driving strategic projects & solutions, enhancing project management & promote talent development within team To support One synchrony culture, he/she will also be responsible for building & leveraging relationships across multiple functions within Analytics to make an impact for SYF businessEssential Responsibilities:

• Provide Oversight, Thought Leadership and Domain expertise to Model Development for Lifecycle, Acquisition and Emob, Customer Experience, Credit, Collections and Fraud
• Design and develop analytical solutions to test, scale and deploy Machine Learning capabilities
• Convert business requirements into modeled solutions, enhancing efficacy and generating insights
• Aid management of models through their lifecycle, from core development phase through to implementation into production, and outline enhancements for evaluation and future model releases
• Seek out opportunities for model improvements, collaborate on model re-calibrations, and re-fits when business dynamics change
• Assist with responding to model validation, regulatory or other oversight requests, including exam findings or issues.
  
  Adhere to and follow model governance standards
• Visualize insights, performance, and trends in inputs/outputs for effective communication and decisioning
• Drive Analytics strategies for existing and new Product development, and expansion objectives
• Execute on strategies for Commercialization and Consulting opportunities through planned POC's, testing and productionalize solutions
• Initiate, design & develop reusable & scalable solutions in line with business priorities & best practices to drive impact for the business while strengthening routine, standard analytics competencies
• Co-own Data Science goals & agenda along with US Model Development and Analytics Capabilities teams
• Collaborate with US leads, stakeholders and cross-functional teams to drive strategy and analytics agenda for clients or portfolio including but not limited to designing solutions and leading strategic initiatives and coordinating key priorities in the team through effective project management and capacity planning
• Identify, propose, execute & implement data driven thought leadership/cross-functional projects & initiatives at Lifestyle & Cross platform & IAH level to drive Lifestyle & Cross platform analytics agenda/objectives & create visibility for IAH.
  
  
• Lead & manage the team through their career journey with Synchrony Facilitate professional growth through development of short term, long term goals & focus areas
• Ideate & create frameworks to enhance storytelling, technical, analytics & business skills of the team Simplify technical & complex data driven insights for team's projects into easy to understand & meaningful findings & recommendations
• Actively engage & collaborate with various stakeholders (US analytics, India LT, marketing teams) to deliver on their business goals & priorities.
  
  
• Develop & Own the hiring strategy for Lifestyle & Cross platform to not only cater to current goals but also hire for future skillsets, needs & vision for the platform(s)
• Create a culture of exploring latest Tools and Techniques in the Industry and leveraging them for portfolio growth
• Share learnings and capabilities with broader analytics community and play an instrumental role in developing use cases to showcase IAH capabilities

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field with 8+ years of hands-on Analytics experience (Distance learning not valid) OR in lieu of a degree, 10+ years of hands-on Analytics experience
• 5+ years' experience in SQL, Python or R
• 5+ years of experience proven track record of strong leadership which includes coaching, mentoring, leading and performance development in Analytics function
• Proven hands-on experience in performing statistical analysis and use of machine learning algorithms such as random forest, XG boost, and manage large amounts of data
• Excellent verbal/written skills & stakeholder management skills are critical as this role entails communicating technical & complex insights to both technical and non-technical audiences across all levels of the organization.

• Ability to synthe/analyze diverse information, develop and recommend strategies, and articulate clearly to business partners and customers
