Roles and Responsibility Responsibilities: Proactive Monitoring of all the Servers, Some of the key parameters would be: Availability of the Server Hardware pre-failure and post-failures Disk Space, Memory, CPU, Network utilization and monitoring related to server Monitoring log files Critical Services monitoring Swap-in & Swap-out rate System mode CPU User mode CPU utilization Validate the alerts for False-Positives Log tickets in the Service Desk system for valid alert Disk management - creating partitions for the different types of servers Disk space management for OS partition(s) System Log file management User account management Starting and stopping of VMs Monitoring CPU/Memory/LAN utilization thru Virtual Infrastructure Monitoring VMWare Server health Monitoring Service Console alerts Creating VM's Configuring VM's New Disk addition to Virtual machine VM deletion VM Cloning Strong Experience in Active Directory Services Strong Experience in ADS, Group Policies, FSMO Roles, DNS Zones, Replications etc Managing / reconfiguring of DHCP scopes and reservations Managing / reconfiguring of DNS / System State backup Reinstallation of OS , arising due to incidents of OS crashes or problems where a reinstallation is required System Administration Tasks Creating and managing domains, volumes Assign Protocol addresses Creating and managing NIS/ NFS/groups/domains etc Manage Multiple interfaces and IP Addresses Manage Clusters Manage Access rights & Folders Physical experience on Server/Storage/ Day to day Administration, support, maintenance and monitoring of the MS Exchange 2003/2007/2010/Office 365 infrastructure Experience in Backup tools Different types of cluster, failover policies Day to day troubleshooting of Outlook/O365 issues; Administration of mailboxes and Users accounts Virtualization and Backup & Restore Management Strong Experience in Virtualization - Hyper V, VMware Good experience in Backup Tivoli Storage Manager, Disaster Backups and VM Backups [Good to have] Concepts such as CheckpointLive MigrationReplicationStorage MigrationIntegration services VmotionFTDRSSnapshotstorage migration and their working Disk/Storage: Exposure to SAN/NAS/DAS/HBA, storage infrastructure/fabric (iSCSI, SCSI, SAS, IDE, etc) Day to day administration of escalated calls and provide resolution Event log analysis at regular interval for maintaining the integrity of servers Planning and execution of DR Drills based on availability of DR setup and recovery procedures (Applicable if the DR is in scope) Preparing, maintaining and updation of SOP and Knowledge Base Maintaining and updation of Infra AS IS / Infra Documents Managing / reconfiguring terminal services, cluster services, file servers Maintain Complete Configuration Information of Servers in scope Knowledge on VMWare Managing Virtual Machine Settings Allocating more memory, additional CPU, NIC Creating Virtual Machine Snapshots Apply a Snapshot and Rename a Snapshot Delete a Snapshot and Delete a Snapshot Subtree, Revert Snapshot Provisioning of new VM from template Configuring Network on VMs and VLAN Tagging New Data store Creation Virtual machine migration New VSwitch Creation Adding users to VMware console VMWare Log file administration VMWare System accounting and Security Multipathing configuration Necessary support for restoration or drill Have knowledge on Power shell scripting Performance tuning suggest by OEM Updation and maintenance of Availability, Capacity management Risk Analysis and mitigation planning Continual Service Improvement Planning and executions Incident / Problem / Request Fulfillment / Change / Vendor management Follow the Release Management Process and deploy OS patches and Security Patches.

The Release Process would follow a Plan, Test and Roll-out strategy as defined in the Change and Release Management Process Review of daily/weekly/monthly checklist Preparation of RCA for Major Incidents Co-ordinate with vendors in case of problems arising due to hardware failures or otherwise, in which case the involvement of the vendor or principles is required Resolution of any ticket within SLA
