  • Wholesale Credit and Market Risk (WMR) department measures and monitors global credit and market risks arising from lending and trading activities as well as providing credit approval for corporates and financial institutions
  • The MI & Regulatory reporting team with in GRID - RAC in GSC supports the Group Wholesale Credit Risk team on numerous activities such as to report the Group's exposures to internal/external stakeholders & regulators with a high degree of assurance on the quality and timeliness of the Group Data
The Opportunity:Primary responsibilities cover the areas of:
  • Generating and Substantiation of Regulatory reporting (Large Exposures, FSB I-I Credit Exposure, FSA018) to meet and reflect changes in Global regulatory requirements
  • Generating, validating and preparing submissions of key risk portfolio reports to Group WMR's Credit Portfolio MI and reporting team
  • Supporting the generation of ad hoc reports in addition to regular reports.

  • Supporting data provision for Global Wholesale Portfolio analytics, Credit Risk Committee reports, Global Portfolio Oversight Committee and scenario / stress analysis for consumption by Senior Global Business and WMR executives
  • Assist the line manager in ensuring uninterrupted business operations through adequate BCP
  • Assist the line manager in delivering flagship projects
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations including HSBC Global Standards and taking necessary steps to address any audit findings
What you'll do:
  • Contribute to the preparation of a variety of reports aimed at ensuring timely and effective delivery of Wholesale Credit Information.

  • Design and implement processes for validating and substantiation of data included in the reports produced
  • Gather data, analyze and create PowerPoint presentations for the purposes of senior executive forums and RMC's
  • Support the preparation of information, reports and manage follow-up actions for regulatory and other stakeholder risk oversight meetings including the provision of regular risk data
  • Work effectively with others across the WMR function to ensure the production of reports is insightful, professional and fit for purpose
  • Provide analysis and report to a number of senior internal and external stakeholders, both regular and ad hoc.

  • Build on data available in the Risk Reporting systems and non-risk systems as appropriate to develop MI that supports improved risk management capabilities
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • Follow a robust production line of project development, documentation and effective offshoring where appropriate
  • Comprehend the task at hand and solve the business problem by applying simple & realistic solutions and should be able to slice and dice the data to understand trends, nuances, etc and provide outputs high in analytical content.

  • To complete assigned projects and help the business partners with additional analysis when required
  • To fully understand and map Data Flows (System of records to Reports) for core data elements and perform data quality checks
  • Maintain sound documentation processes, especially for repetitive tasks Documents must capture all aspects of the process including file dependencies, SLA, stakeholders, output location, code location and step-by-step sequence to be followed Follow standard nomenclature and efficient file / folder management
Requirements What you will need to succeed in the roleKnowledge:
  • An experienced risk managerwith over 5 years' of WMR experience or equivalent and a good understanding of Group and Regional policies, governance procedures and lending guidelines.

  • The job holder will have a good knowledge of credit risk, having had experience at either a regional or country level Wholesale Credit Risk team
  • The job holder will have advanced analysis skills, including data management and presentation
  • Proven ability to engage with internal stakeholders regularly by understanding and sharing commercial practices, challenges and potential solutions and by working collaboratively
  • Excellent analytical skills, including analytical languages (SQL, SAS, R Studio, Python etc)
  • Experience working with MI visualization tools such as Tableau / Qlikview/Business Objects etc.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other query tools and use them for streamlining the process
  • Strong working experience on Group Credit/Risk systems
  • Learn & understand end to end processes Take lead on these processes and be a single point of contact for business for any queries related to process & changes

  • Develop & improve level of engagement and networking with the respective Business Area and Risk departments through efficient use of the available communication tools & effective networking.

  • Assist in compiling insightful reports and minutes for governance meetings
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands and manage stakeholder expectations This role is expected to have multiple deliverables with multiple team members at one time
  • Able to take ownership, respond to feedback and suggest viable alternative approaches
  • Ability to work independently.

Experience:
  • Experience in corporate banking / wholesale risk management/ portfolio management in multiple corporate sectors/ geographies
  • Professional experience in a financial services or consulting firm
  • Prior experience in dealing with virtual business partners across the globe
What additional skills will be good to have
  • Knowledge of HSBC Group, its operations, systems, products and risk systems preferable
  • Self-starter, who can think proactively.

    Demonstrate the ability to learn abstract concepts and to operate effectively against uncertainty and on unfamiliar ground
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate with a various range of stakeholders including technical and non-technical staff
