As a thought-leader in the Computational Science team, you would be required to collaborate with sister teams, Principals and Chief Scientists to push the boundaries of computational biology and bioinformatics in problems worth solving across nature-based solutions, agri-sciences, biotechnology and so onAccountable for building a differentiated capability and shaping the portfolio of Computational Life Sciences for medium and long-term opportunities More specifically, your role will entail:

• Differentiated capability: you will need to establish a portfolio of Computational Life Sciences within Computational Science GM-ship, with differentiated expertise in biotechnology, agri-sciences, bioinformatics, guiding experimentation in synthetic biology for areas like nature-based solutions, next-gen breakthrough research in biosciences, and so on You need to work closely with the relevant stakeholders from PTX and business You would need to build a portfolio integrating cutting-edge machine learning and AI methods with conventional computational bio tools, as and where appropriate.
  
  
• Delivery and impact: you will need to interface well within Shell for bringing in problems worth solving from diverse LoBs and stakeholders and land tangible, quantifiable impactful delivery in the space of biosciences, as recorded in the Impact Management Framework and beyond
• External trends: You will need to develop & shape a strategic IP portfolio for this niche, evolving space with clear buy-build-collaborate strategies, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders In alignment with the IP strategy, you will need to shape this area in close conjunction with external ecosystem, leveraging external trends to bring in cutting edge innovation in this space Established connections and credibility in external professional bodies, academic community and policy-makers will be a plus Leveraging open innovation and a commercial mindset is a critical element of this role.
  
  

When it comes to nurturing collaborative stakeholder relations it's your excellent people skills that will make the difference You will inspire people to make changes that will have a direct impact on our commercial successFurthermore, you will have:

• PhD in Computational Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics or related qualification
• Substantial experience ( 15 years post-PhD) and knowledge of multiscale modeling, integration of bioinformatics with advanced AI/deep learning methods, protein engineering models and solutions, bio-statistics, and similar areas

• Significant experience and track record of strategic business delivery from R&D projects.
  
  
• Proven track record of securing trust from key stakeholders and growing portfolio with stakeholder funding
• Proven track record of establishing bio-research portfolio in industrial setting
• Proven collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams and change management skills
