Job description Business: Market and Security ServicesOpen positions:1Role Title:Subject Matter Expert - Middle OfficeGlobal Career Band:7Location :Kolkata Recruiter Name : Archana SharmaWhy join us Transaction Management Team is responsible for Trade capture, exception management and service routing of trades to downstream systems along with adding and settlement of cash transactions to accounting Trade Instructions are either received STP through Markit EDM or uploaded manually or through Macros/EUC's to accounting for instructions received in generic mailboxes or SFTP folder from Client/FM's Diagnostics reports are run which includes investigation, handling any exceptions and query for Trade rejects within the PLA turnaround time We plan to onboard middle office work for which we have to monitor trade matching process and ensure all exception resolved with client/broker The Opportunity: Impact on the Business/Function
  • .

    To support rollout of new products/ activities within Trades
  • Engage and drive efficiencies and business solutions through automation and be an agent of change Assist and participate in the deployment of defined business solutions to remove manual processes
  • Active participation and support of migration / re-migration of funds
  • Support department initiatives, regulatory, compliance and reduce risk.

  • Formulate and implement robust control mechanism to eliminate risk (if any)
  • Successful implementation of all process/department level initiatives
  • Adherence to all project /migration timelines
Customers / Stakeholders
  • Review the Postings/uploads and ensure all downstream/ BP queries are responded in a timely manner
  • Perform maker activities as and when required
  • Handovers are in place and all files are checked and there is an Escalation Matrix in place and followed diligently.

  • Act as the primary contact for Business Partners and downstream teams in relation to any query related to reconciliation/posting
  • Act as a backup for the Manager in his absence and manage operations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal customers & business partners through timely communication and BAU Calls
  • Adhere to defined process KPIs and PLAs.

  • NIL BP Complaints All BP/Stakeholders queries and open items to be responded to/raised in a timely manner
Leadership & Teamwork
  • Ensure continuous process related updates are cascaded to the fund administrators on an on-going basis.

  • Undertake/conduct trainings/cross training for all staff including existing and new staffs and monitor the same in an ongoing basis
  • Perform any additional responsibilities that may be required by the Supervisor in support of the on-going management and development of the division

  • Updating all MIS/trackers as required by the process
  • Enhancements to Job-Aid Matrix, SOP, process notes, checklists, KPI and internal processes as and when required

  • Ensure timely follow up on the open & outstanding issues that hinder the valuation Ensure, Escalation Matrix is followed as per agreed for both BP & SSO Kolkata

What you'll do:
  • Matching of Security trades based on details received from client and broker/counterparties
  • Monitor trade matching-process, ensure all exceptions fully resolved with client/broker and any issues are fully documented within the system
  • Confirm accurate and timely update of all transaction types to the A&V system to ensure valuation deadlines are met
  • Issuing settlement instructions for trades to custodians within agreed timescales
  • Following up of queries with clients/brokers/custodians to ensure prompt resolution
  • Ensure relevant logs are maintained and managed appropriately to agreed service definitions
  • Assist in the documentation, development and maintenance of procedures and controls to ensure ongoing compliance with industry and regulatory changes and requirements
  • Ensure accurate and relevant MI is produced within the required timescales
  • Participate in project and system change activity within the team, attending relevant meetings where required, following up on action points, updating Task Lists and keeping the Manager and team up to date with progress.

    When required, review current systems and investigate alternatives Recommend any changes/ process efficiencies and assist team with smooth implementation of any project or system change activity
  • Provide cover for other administrators in the team/ settlements department area when required
Requirements What you will need to succeed in the role: Applicant should have a Bachelor's/Master's degree in commerce/Finance: 2 - 5 years of Funds administration experience.

Excellent knowledge of Capital Markets and Financial instruments Knowledge and industry experience of Trade matching, Failed Trades and Trades settlement .

Clear understanding of the Trade Life Cycle Basic knowledge in custody, brokerage, depository, investment accounting, mutual funds and reconciliations Possess good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in EXCEL essential Ability to speak and understand English Excellent interpersonal and team work skills.

Organized and detail oriented Demonstrates ownership of tasks and escalates to management when appropriate Ability to re-prioritize workloads due to changing circumstances meet strict deadlines.

Will be expected to maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, together with any issues raised by external regulators Must be aware of the operational risk scenarios associated with this role and act upon pertinent risk (if any) What additional skills will be good to have.

Other/Additional relevant industry qualifications RB usage experience preferred Understanding of the overall E2E Investment Operations and A&V process .
