HR gave brief intro about Mindtree and explained procedure.

There was a procedure,
i) Written exam.
ii) Technical cum HR round.

Mindtree conducts written exam as adaptive test

Mindtree-adaptive test: --> Online exam. --> Different questions for every candidate(randomly). --> You cannot skip the question. --> You cannot go back to previous question. --> No negative marking.

Test pattern: There were 4 sections

Section 1: Verbal, contained questions like find out grammatical errors, synonyms and antonyms and also it contained two reading comprehension passages.

Section 2: Quantitative analysis(average, time-work, simplification, probability, profit&loss, permutations, percentage, etc.) R.S.Agarwal book more than enough.

Section 3: C programming, oops concepts, data structures,complexity analysis.

Section 4: Logical reasoning.

First 3 sections contain 25 questions(25 min.) each.

Last and 4th section contains 24 questions(35 min.) 80 Students cleared this round. I was one of them.

TECHNICAL cum HR round:

My interviewer was madam, it was simple discussion between me and mam. --> Tell me about your family? --> Your favorite subjects? --> Write a program to find a largest no. in an array. --> What was the biggest problem you faced,how could you solve it? --> SQL queries (I forgot, but easy) --> Your strength and weakness --> Your hobbies? --> Tell me the basic commands of unix --> Puzzle question that was "without measuring tape how can you find length of rope?"(hint:: simple pendulum concept) --> Do you have any queries for me? There were more questions on my answers. On next day(4 Oct 12) 12 PM results were announced, Finally, out of 80 students 35 students were placed in Mindtree, obviously I was one of them and call letter was given by HR team. Hope it is helpful to you, wish you all the best!.

The test was a very long process(ONLINE)...2hrs 10 minutes(includind 1 min break after the completion of each section)

ASPIRING MINDS has conducted the test process under supervision of MINDs...

The test consisted of 4 sections.

*VERBAL(RC,Jumbles,SYN.,ANT.,SENTENCE CORRECTION...)25 Qs

*QUANTS(log,ratio,ages,LCM,HCF,number series,profit...) 35 Qs

*LOGICAL(Coding&decoding,Arrangements(seating),blood relations,Odd)35 Qs

*Principles of programming(C,C++,DATA STRUCTS) 25 Qs(O/P,basic concepts..)

There was sectional Cutoff( try to get above 60% in all sections)...

Only 30 students cleared the test...

and the selected students were called for the next round(Technical)

They will test you indepth in your domain as well as in programming...

Be clear with basic C programs,Data structures and logical questions...

Only 8 cleared the technical round...

I was also one among them and we were called for the HR Round(FINAL)...

Same regular questions were asked and i answered well...

Out of 8 they were shortlisted only 6...and one was kept as hold and I was the only person REJECTED in that long drive...

Very basic questions are there, go through R.S.Agrawal. main topics are percentage,profit and loss, age, probability, permutation and combination,area...

ii: Mind TreeTechnical aptitude
Mainly C questions are there, we have to write only output of very simple programs. be clear with basic of C operators, control statements, string functions, macros

iii: Mind Tree Essay/ Email writing
A topic was given & accordingly we had to write an e-mail or essay..

iv:Mind Tree program writing
This is most imp part. Please read problem statement carefully & then write.
Be very clear with string functions.

Hello guys this is dattatreya halade from UBDT college DAVANGERE, Karnataka.. MINDTREE CONSULTING visited our coll campus on 19-20th Feb. out of 115 people who attended Round-1 only 18 were selected. Here is the selection procedure that the company followed in OUR campus..



ROUND-1: - Written Test

30 quantitative aptitude questions ONLY (refer R.S aggarwal).

Time limit of 45mins

Some quests
Avg of 5 nos is 6, in that 3 nos avg is 8, whats avg of other 2? Ans- 3

Similar questions on area, time/work, %age, age, speed�

Sorted candidates were 51 out of 115.

NOTE: - aggregate matters on Ur selection in round-1 as well, if u have agg > 70 then u r almost guaranteed a spot in the GDs...



ROUND-2: - GD

3 groups of 17 people each made...

Topics: - cricket, censorship, and another one!

Out of 51, 39 were selected, twas the easiest round to clear�



ROUND-3: - TECHNICAL WRITTEN TEST.

For respective branches, questions of their types were allotted, there was no time limit as such they wanted to measure the approach of the candidate towards questions... around 8 quests were given and 3hrs allotted...

Some topics of help- C (definitely for computer science guys) Microprocessor (elect guys)

Filtration: - out of 39, 21 were selected for the next round.



ROUND-4: - HR INTERVIEW.

Simple interview with basic HR questions, Be prepared with the company profile etc...

Finally 18 from 21 were selected�

The general apptitude consisted of 7 sections�

Section 1:

4 flow charts.. each flow chart consisted of 5 questions.. so totally 20 questions my dear friends.. Here problems were of the type where we have to check from the options given and mark it for the appropriate symbol.



Eg: For a rectangle symbol the options will be 1.A ranges from 2.5 to 3.5 .,2. A ranges from 2 to 2.5, 3,4,5. something like that�

Friends these problems are really very easy if u understand the sample flow chart given that is solved..

Section 2:

This is the speed maths section.. here 12 questions were asked that r to be solved in 3 minutes�

Eg.

U can solve this section by seeing the approximate answer� Please be ACTIVE and fast�

Section 3:

This section consisted of 20 questions that r to be solved in 3 minutes..

Its very very easy if u understand the sample problem given with u solution..

This section will have some paragraphs.Questions will be asked based on each paragraph.

Eg:

A passage of lines on some situation like the communication in an e-mail�. And few questions based on that�(pretty simple).





2nd ROUND: GROUP DISCUSSION

MINDTREE PAPER ON 5th JULY

Hi.....
We had mindtree exam on 5th july 2007 .The paper was simple but the time limit he gives could make u a bit fuzzy and spoil ur test so never do that....just be cool and go on with how much u can do becoz thts the best way to do it. Hurry could lead you to disaster.The test contained 7 sections 1st section had flowcharts (in it some box filling stuff) four were der.2nd was making equs .3rd was speed maths

4th was matching .For the first and second section we were given 15 mins.For 3rd and 4th we were given just 3 mins .In 3 mins we were supposed to do 13 maths ques of form 1345%567(appro)= types.

Last 3 secs were of 15 mins (for all 3),contained a bit technical,passage,ques,algorithm stuff. In written out of 350 or 400 i think 150 were shortlisted.

Next was GD.Just be confident and add points.Initialisation and team cooperation and ur confidence is observed.The topic was "Email vs Snailmail". In GD out of 150 -70 were shortlisted.

Next was tech cum hr.
I was in the panel A and second one to be interviewed in it.
The interviewer asked me on entrance whts the basic diff in EIE,ECE,CSE,IT.
I told.Nextly he asked me diff in IT and cse.I told.
He asked me abt analog communication,its contents.
Asked architecture of my project.

Then he asked me a prog relating to my project .I EXPLAINED THE SERVLET.Then he asked its practicality and cases of validity in an email He almost asked me so many symbols that cant be used in an email(like double @,?,:,etc.
Then he asked my eamcet rank.What kind of books i read.I told i read abt plants,animals,nature.
Then he asked on animals.If you really have something then only speak out becoz whtever u say he has ques on them.
He was really impressed by my facts on animals...... :)
Then he asked me to check cases in email validation i asked can i write in Perl as i did project on it.And i explaned it with a SPLIT function..... he was impressed.
Then he asked abt my family background and full details abt them.....
What i observed is u r selected only if u show some unique quality in u and great level of confidence....What i advise is be sound at tech and non tech and just leave rest on god.........

MINDTREE PAPER ON 14th MAY AT BANGALORE

PRESENTATION:
For those of you who have not been driven towards the company after scanning through Mindtree,s Website, this is the place to be. The presentation is by far the best i have ever seen. From the meaning of the company,s logo to the answers to queries at the end of the session,every single word will strike a chord.

WRITTEN TEST:
procedure: There is a fixed time for each of the 7 sections.
A proctor keeps track of the time and informs when to move to the next section.
There is a sample question at the begining of each section,reading of the sample is not timed. The paper tests you on your basic reasoning abilities.
If you are looking for the test pattern, I would suggest you stop right now. The only people who would be of help are the people who have written the test. It is a very different test,it tests you on your speed,ablity to stay calmN focussed in that one hour. No standard type questions.The difficulty level Is not high but speed and concentration is the criteria.
flowcharts: the problem statement is given along with a flowchart .some of the boxes of the flowchart are empty with choices to fill in. a section was filled with division and reminder finding,basically speed math
a problem on conversion of base of numbers
application of general formula,s like speed = d/t etc
the last section has OS and SE(if u havent studied these subjects dont worry,we were informed it was not given importance for non cs/is branches)
learn the names of the stages of software production life cycle,wat is the output of the compiler,some basics of c

GROUP DISCUSSION:
The group discussion was preceded by tips on group discussions,but this ofcourse depends on your panel.All the panel members are extremely friendly and polite.
Put forward your opinions and listen when someone else apeaks.
I am not qualified enough to give GD tips,so ill leave it here.

MINDTREE PAPER ON 17th JULY 2006 AT BENGAL ENGINEERING & SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

MINDTREE was the first software company to visit the Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shibpur campus for campus placements. The entire procedure was of two days- 17th and 18th July, 2006. It consisted of the following things:-

1) Aptitude Test
The aptitude test was the first level to be crossed. The eligibility criteria for the test was 65% in aggregate from IT, ETC, CST or EE departments. The test was actually outsourced to a US-based agency known as ,Professional Aptitude Council,. The test they conducted was composed of 2 parts:-
a) Part One - This consisted of time-based sections ranging from Diagrams, IT reasoning, quantitative analysis to approximations and chart viewing. The different sections had times allotted as 30, 20, 6 and 2 minutes and total questions were 105.
b) Part Two - This consisted of various sections but no time-bound sections. The questions here ranged from Basic computer knowledge to logical reasoning to Psychometry and knowledge about the various topics. This part was allotted a total time of 75 minutes and total questions were 140.
So the total time was 133 minutes and the total questions were 245.

2) Group Discussion
For the group discussion, which was held on day 2 after the Pre-placement talk (PPT) there were 90 students chosen. They were divided into 9 groups of 10 each. Each group was given a different topic to discuss. Some of the topics were:
i) If you get up tomorrow morning and you find that the Internet has vanished, will it be good for society or not?
ii) MNCs vs. Indian companies
iii) Indian IT companies are ruining business etc etc

3) Personal Interview
From the 90 students chosen for GD, 37 were chosen for the personal interview. They were called in one-by-one and interviewed. Each student was interviewed by one person only. The interviews were partly technical and partly HR. Some were asked questions from their vacational trainings whereas some were asked questions regarding the Linux User,s Group at BESU, Shibpur.
Finally 22 students were chosen. The departmental break-up was 10 from Information Technology, 6 from Electronics and Telecommunication, 3 from Electrical Engineering, 2 from Computer Science and Technology and 1 from Mca.
